Hourly Hire



Saturdays, Sundays 10am - 4pm.
(Holidays Weds - Sun)

Canoes (suitable for up two participant paddlers and two <12's / one >12 as passengers on the floor) £30 per hour.

Tandem Kayaks (suitable for two participant paddlers) £30 per hour.

Single Kayaks & Paddle Boards: £15 per hour.



Join us for a GUIDED canoe safari as we explore the river, its wildlife and history in a relaxed and gentile paddle.


Saturday morning paddles are hosted on the upper stretch from Sudbury and Sunday evening paddles are on the lower stretch from Cattawade.


Canoes are suitable for 2 paddlers with space for child passengers on the floor in the middle: 2 <10's or 1 >10 years old.

Explorer Paddles are a great way to get out and get in touch with the calm of nature and to explore the top of the River Stour.


Canoes are suitable for 2 adults (£17.50) with free passenger space on the floor in the middle for 1 teenage child or 2 <10's.

Sudbury - Paddle'n'Pub



Self-guided: Sat & Sun: 11:00 & 11:30 starts
£90 per canoe (up to 2 adults and 2 <10's / 1 >10 yr old as passengers)

(Holidays Wednesday - Sunday)

Guided: Thursdays 6pm-10pm, £65pp (adults only).



Canoes are large stable boats suitable for two adults with space on the floor in the middle for 1 teenage child or 2 <10's.


Four hour return hires provide ample time to explore the upper section of the navigable Stour from our Sudbury base. Paddling upriver takes you into the beautiful water meadows and downriver past the commons and out into tranquil rural flat-lands of the valley to The Henny Swan (2 miles / 1 hour paddle from Sudbury)


Bookings are priced at 2 participating paddlers per canoe, free child passenger spaces are available for young ones sitting on the floor in the middle of the canoe.

One-way Sudbury - Bures (Tandem Kayaks)



Saturday & Sundays
(Holidays Wednesday to Sunday)

1 Day (3 hours paddle time + breaks)
£75 per person



Tandem Kayaks are perfect for sharing the work between paddlers and offer stability and comfort as they glide comfortably through water.


This trip is a relaxed journey covering 6 miles in the day (expect 3 hours paddle time) and therefore allowing lots of time to enjoy a wild swim, riverside picnic or a visit to The Lamarsh Lion for lunch (10 mins walk off the river) or The Eight Bells at the end of your paddle.


Bookings are priced at 2 participating paddlers per tandem kayak.


We advise customers to park at Bures Station in the morning before taking the train to Sudbury where you'll start your paddle - we're a short 10-15 min walk from Sudbury train station.

One-way Sudbury to Nayland (Tandem Kayaks)

1 Day (6 hours paddling + breaks)
£95 per person



Paddle the upper River Stour Navigation from Sudbury to Nayland with our stable two person Tandem Kayaks. Enjoy quiet tranquil paddling along stretches, that many others don't use, in beautiful landscapes as the river weaves its way through the glorious Essex and Suffolk 'Stour Valley'.


Expect 6-7 hours of paddle time (plus breaks) and a 09:30 start. Bring a picnic / packed lunch or stop at The Eight Bells in Bures for a pub lunch at the halfway point.


Price incl scheduled morning transfer from Nayland where you leave your car) to the start in Sudbury.


Suitable for paddlers aged 16+. It's possible you'll get your feet wet / muddy and may have to push through reed sections in summer as your paddling quieter lesser used sections of river. .

Paddle the full 26 mile River Stour Navigation from Sudbury to the Sea with our stable two person Tandem Kayaks.


Enjoy quiet tranquil paddling along stretches, that many others don't use, in beautiful landscapes as the river weaves its way through the glorious Essex and Suffolk 'Stour Valley'.


Expect 10 hours of paddle time (plus breaks) and a 09:00 start. Bring a picnic / packed lunch or stop for a light lunch at the halfway point, The Anchor in Nayland.


Price incl scheduled morning transfer from Cattawade where you leave your car) to the start in Sudbury.


Suitable for paddlers aged 18+. It's possible you'll get your feet wet / muddy and may have to push through reed sections in summer as your paddling quieter lesser used sections of river. .

Paddle the full 26 mile River Stour Navigation from Sudbury to the sea at Cattawade with our stable two person canoes camping at our partner site in Nayland on both the night before you adventure starts and as you reach the half way point of the river at the end of your first days paddling .


Enjoy quiet tranquil paddling along stretches, that many others don't use, in beautiful landscapes as the river weaves its way through the glorious Essex and Suffolk 'Stour Valley' and on through 'Constable Country'.


Expect 6-7 hours of paddle time (plus breaks) each day. Stop at perfectly located pubs for lunches and dinner or bring a picnic / bbq.


Priced per person and includes: one-way two day canoe hire, campsite fee for both nights, firepit with logs, scheduled transfers between the start / end and campsite (optional tent hire and guide / host service available at checkout)


NB: where an odd number of guests are booking a single user craft will be provided.

Enjoy quiet tranquil paddling along stretches, that many others don't use, in beautiful landscapes as the river weaves its way through the glorious Essex and Suffolk 'Stour Valley' and on through 'Constable Country'.


Expect 3-4 hours of paddle time (plus breaks) each day. Stop at perfectly located pubs for lunches and dinner or bring a picnic / bbq.

Suitable for Participant Paddlers aged 16+
